Dunu DUW-02 Quick-Switch Cable Review

Dunu has made a series of patented Quick-Switch cables recently and released the first Hulk cable a year or so ago. They've more recently came out with additional cables that use this same Quick-Switch mechanism and are compatible with all their adapters. This new line-up includes the Lyre, the Noble, the Chord, and the DUW-02, which is the lowest cost of the set at $79.

I've personally have tried the Lyre, which is included with the Dunu DK3001 Pro, and the DUW-02 which is included with the Dunu DK2001. The Dunu Luna, which I've also reviewed seems to have an unique variant of the highest-tier Noble cable.

While I already have the DUW-02 cable that came with the DK2001, Linsoul sent me a set to review as well, so I'm going to provide some impressions on this stellar cable.

You can find this cable at Linsoul.com directly here: https://www.linsoul.com/products/dunu-duw-02

First off, if you've used the new Campfire smokey litz cable, you'll be right at home with this Dunu cable. They share similar feel, looks, and even color, however, Dunu adds in their patented Quick-Switch connector which, to me, is a game-changer. It lets you quickly switch out source connectors from the default 3.5mm to optional add-on connectors for various sources such as 4.4mm balanced, 2.5mm balanced and 3.5mm balanced.

I've used this cable mostly with the 4.4mm connnector attached and have had no issues with any of my sources. The L-shaped source end makes it sit cleanly with my Sony ZX507 DAP and I like that it's got a minimal amount of total DAP + Cable height.

Now that said, some people are concerned with the L-shape's longer length. This is because it is longer than a traditional L-shape connector that isn't a removable variety. There are some concerns of the stress it could add to the connector and cable if one were to push down on the connector causing it to cantilever more. I haven't found this to be an issue at all in practice and not sure why anyone would be pressing down on it anyway.

Yes, people will say that they put it in their pocket and who knows what will happen, and I'll respond back, what are you doing in your pockets? Yes, there's a possible chance you can damage it but it seems really unlikely to me.

The cable itself is very soft and wound very nicely. It provides one of the most ergonomic and most user-friendly experiences I've had yet on any cables. I am using the MMCX variety now and it works across all my mmcx-style IEMs, except Etymotic. The Dunu cables also come in standard 2-pin as well.

All-in-all, I find the Dunu DUW-02 to be a great cable at $79 and comes with high recommendation. It is pricier than most Chinese brand IEM cables, but you do get the added benefit of the Quick-Switch feature and it's easily one of the most attractive, lightweight, and easy to use cables around, and is actually my favorite, and least expensive, of the Dunu lineup.
